Startup Items

The Startup Items tool allows you to review and change which programs automatically load when you computer starts up. These programs are the ones that always "pop-up" after your computer turns on (like Instant Messengers, Antivirus Software, etc.). By disabling unwanted Startup Items, you can free up system memory and help increase performance.

Using the Startup Items Tool

I try to disable an item but it keeps coming back...

If you try to disable or delete a Startup Item but it keeps coming back, it means that another program is checking to see if the Startup Item is there and adding it back every time it can't find it. You may want to use Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panels to try to remove this parent program if you don't want the particular software.
